Tenacious. Attentive. Caring. Fights for you !
Over 15 years of legal experience at your service, serving as a criminal law attorney, dui defense attorney, family law attorney, handling adoption and guardianships. Our mission is to provide our clients the best possible legal assistance at each step of the legal process. We genuinely care for the well being of our clients and their wishes. We realize and understand the stress that legal proceedings can bring on our clients. We work very hard to ensure that each of our clients are cared for and served in their best interests. We serve the Iowa courts, Illinois courts and Texas courts.
We believe in being the best at what we do - litigation, legal research and cross examinations.
If you’ve been charged with a crime in Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline or anywhere in the Quad Cities, your record and your future are on the line. Attorney Grishma P. Arumugam defends felony and misdemeanor charges in Scott County, Iowa and Rock Island County, Illinois, including OWI/DUI, drug charges, domestic abuse assault, theft, and probation violations.
We also help people move forward after a case ends, with expungement and record-sealing in Iowa and Illinois and resentencing in Iowa.
Divorce: We guide clients through divorce in Iowa and dissolution of marriage in Illinois, protecting your rights in property division, support and alimony.
Custody & parenting time: In Iowa we handle custody, physical care, visitation and paternity cases. In Illinois, where the law now uses the terms “allocation of parental responsibilities” and “parenting time,” we represent parents in Rock Island County and the surrounding area. We also handle modifications when circumstances change.
Adoption: Stepparent, relative and agency adoptions, from the first planning steps to the final hearing.
Juvenile court: We represent families involved with Iowa HHS or Illinois DCFS in child-welfare proceedings.
Wills & Estate Planning – Planning ahead protects the people you love. We prepare wills that fit your family and your assets, name guardians for minor children, and choose an executor you trust. We also prepare powers of attorney and healthcare directives so the right people can make decisions if you can’t. We review and update existing plans after marriage, divorce, a new child, or other life changes.
Probate – After a loved one passes away, we help with the transfer of estate assets, whether or not there is a will. With experienced probate administration representation, the process doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We focus on simplifying each step, helping families understand their circumstances, and making informed decisions along the way.
When an individual is not able to make medical or financial decisions for themselves, the court can appoint someone to “guard” over that person and their estate. We can help you establish a legal relationship which allows a guardian (a person chosen to manage the individual or their estate) to care for the ward (a person who needs their person or estate managed).
Starting, buying, or growing a business involves important legal decisions. We help with business formation (LLCs, corporations, partnerships), operating agreements and bylaws, buying and selling a business, and the day-to-day legal questions that come up as your business grows. Our goal is to set things up right from the start so you can focus on running your business. We also draft, review, and negotiate contracts, residential and commercial leases, lease renewals and guide landlords with Eviction process.
An arrest for drunk or impaired driving can put your license, your job, and your freedom at risk. Whether it’s called OWI in Iowa, DUI in Illinois, or DWI in Texas, we’re ready to defend you. We carefully review every detail of your case, including the traffic stop, field sobriety tests, and breath or blood test results, to find weaknesses in the evidence and protect your rights.
We handle first-time and repeat offenses, as well as cases involving accidents or high test results. We also help with the driver’s license side of your case, including administrative hearings, license suspensions, and temporary restricted licenses so you can keep getting to work and family responsibilities.
Time matters after an arrest. Some license deadlines are short, so call us as soon as possible.
We fight for you !

"I’m so grateful of Mrs. Arumugam that I had her in my corner for my visitation of my daughter, she got me some time with my daughter so I could grow my relationship with her. I would highly recommend her for legal assistance."

"I would like to thank you for the outstanding job you did with my resentencing. There were no forgone conclusions going back in front of the judge, thanks for communicating so well with my mother throughout the past few weeks to help put her mind at ease and to inform her of the outcome of this, my last visit to criminal Court."
